On May 30, 2021, a mother snapped a photo of her 13 year old son while he was hiking. The photo shows a luminous blue triangle focused on his shoulder. The triangle points near the sun, but not directly at it as expected of typical lens flairs. The mother discovered the Red Grid Mark on her son’s shoulder the next day. She posted on the RGMP Facebook group more than a year later.

The RGMP is composted of six dots within a “seed of life” pattern, which is composed of intersecting circles of the same diameter. The size of the dots are proportional with size of the grid. The dots exhibit the typical static-light (like a red laser) burn appearance. The intensity of the dots appear to vary according to a regular diffusion pattern. Using the metaphor of light through a grid stencil, the missing dot, as well as the sharp definition of the seed of life figure, suggests the part of the grid was covered up with something opaque.
