You are invited to participate in research
You are invited to participate in research by me, Daniel Rekshan, and D-SETI Dreamwork. It is important that you understand why I am asking you to participate, what the risks and benefits are, and how you might address any concern or questions you may have. This page explains important aspects of D-SETI research, please read it carefully and address any questions to daniel@dseti.org.
The purpose of D-SETI research is two-fold. First, research based on testimonies can deepen your dream practice. The ancient dream incubation practices associated with Asclepius, the Greek god of healing and dreams, often involved testimonial expressions by the dreamer. Second, D-SETI aims to explore and discuss the shamanic dreaming hypothesis of missing time and ET/NHI contact, contributing relevant testimonies to research literature.
Research Process
The research procedure is a series of recorded interactions on a video, which may be supported by surveys. The recorded interactions include interviewing, story-telling, hypnosis, creative expression, mindfulness practice, and dreamwork. The recordings may be analyzed through content analysis, machine learning, phenomenology, and other mixed methods.
A typical pattern of interaction may include:
- Intake conversation, in which we discuss your experiences, life, thoughts, and questions
- Dreamwork or hypnosis session, in which we use trance to explore a dream or experience
- Analysis of materials, in which I conduct independent analysis like producing geometry for body mark or UAP documentation or else producing a custom report about dream themes
- Interpretation session, in which we debrief the trance, discuss interpretations and analysis, and record testimonial expressions
Benefits and Risks
Benefits of participating in research may include insight regarding dreams and reported ET/NHI contact, although no benefit is guaranteed. Potential risks include revisiting traumatic experiences, induction of false memories, and negative aspects of shamanic dreaming including nightmares or spirit visitations.
Ethics and Affiliation
D-SETI Dreamwork follows the ethics and epistemology of dreamwork, as defined by the International Association for the Study of Dream and in the D-SETI Dreamwork terms of service. D-SETI research is conducted by Daniel Rekshan as an independent researcher engaging in citizen science.
Outcomes
The outcome of research is content produced by D-SETI Dreamwork, such as written articles, blog posts, video content, or book material. Please review D-SETI research articles, books, or video content for examples of how your testimony will be used. In addition, D-SETI curates a database of reports about dreams and extraordinary experiences that will be used to produce content analysis reports similar to DreamWell’s data-driven dictionary.
Recordings and Release
You release your rights to recording, transcripts, and other materials generated through the D-SETI research process to Daniel Rekshan and D-SETI Dreamwork to be used for research, educational, and creative purposes. Recordings will be privately held by D-SETI Dreamwork, transcribed and analyzed by third-party services like Otter.ai, and will be saved in a research database. Unless otherwise specified, any public reference to your materials will be anonymized through a pseudonym.
Donation Expectation
Research requires training, time, and energy. For example, an hour of interview conversation may require two hours of transcription and analysis in order to enter into a database, which in turn requires many hours to understand and write about. Consequently, I must ask for a cash donation to compensate me for my time at $60/hour of interaction time (interview, sessions, debrief, etc). However, no donation is expected for research participants. We will discuss donations during the intake call.
Shamanic Dreamwork Premise
D-SETI Dreamwork puts forward the shamanic dreaming hypothesis of missing time, regression hypnosis, and ET/NHI contact through research articles and the book Missing Time Found. Shamanic dreaming is a natural spirit-based understanding of dreaming that sees some dreams as a real journey of the spirit through a real spirit world. Dream interpretation is seen as a shamanic activity because it mediates the dreamer’s relationship with the real spirit world, through revelation of knowledge or powerful ritual events.
All research activities are seen as co-participitory and non-dual psycho-spiritual actions within a transpersonal domain. In other words, you must participate as a co-researcher and we must acknowledge that our research transcends the boundaries between subject and object or you and me. While forensic or clinical hypnotists may seek an objective understanding, we seek a powerful shamanic experience that may blend our two subjective perspectives.
I work with two shamanic traditions that are native to Western culture, which is informed by my study of shamanism. First, I work with the dream incubation traditions associated with Asclepius, the ancient Greek god of healing and dreams, as a model for my practice. Second, I work with Enochian Magic and a tradition of scrying associated with the 16th century English magus Dr. John Dee. Additionally, I have sought out training in Tibetan dream practices from Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche and within Shambhala Buddhism, as well as training in Core Shamanism from Michael Harner and a mentor within the Curanderismo tradition.

Service as a Spiritual Practice
All services are offered as a professional psycho-spiritual practice of Daniel Rekshan, which means it is more like the spiritual counselling services or ritual sacraments of a priest than a therapist. Daniel offers no mental health advice or interventions, rather he works with dreams as a psycho-spiritual level through practices based in creative expression, shamanism, mindfulness, hypnosis, and dreamwork. The entire process is modeled after the practice of dream incubation practiced by the priests of Asclepius, who was the ancient Greek god of medicine and dreams.
