This paper the history of mysticism and mathematics in the West. There are a number of notable mathematicians who also experienced mystical phenomenon. Abraham noted several types of mysticism including: entity communications, mathematics as the universal language, and dreams. Examples include Socrates, Descartes, Dee, Newton, Ramanujan, and others.

Some SETI theorists suggest that a test for ET/NHI telepathy may be the revelation of new mathematics or technologies. Abraham showed that mathematical creativity and mysticism are deeply correlated. Surveying the history of mathematics may be proof for NHI interaction with humans.
