Ethics

Our ethics are based on the IASD ethical guidelines, including:

  • Respect the dreamer as the authority of the dream
    • Use the phrase “if it were my dream…” to offer reflections
    • Do not share another person’s dream without their express permission
  • Respect the dream as multidimensional
    • Embody the spirit of the dream as you speak it
    • Use multiple means of engagement
    • Allow the dream to shift if that it beneficial for you
  • Be aware of personal projections
    • Allow other dreams to speak to you like your own, but always use the phrase “if it were my dream”
  • Activism
    • Take action in waking and dreaming for nonharmful individual and collective fortune

Epistemology

Epistemology refers to how we know things.  In general, dreams are a complex way of knowing and therefore we follow these guidelines:

  • Engage your imagination to remember, share, and interpret dreams
  • Refrain from making ontological conclusions, e.g., was the ET visitor real or dream?
  • Use multiple means of knowledge
  • Validity includes:
    • Empathy
    • Insight
    • Joy
    • Creativity
    • Ecological activism

Preparation

You are a natural dreamer and sufficiently prepared.  If you would like to take some action to prepare, you may:

  • Come as you are, there is nothing to prepare.
  • Look out for a dream or dreamlike experience.
  • Keep a dream journal, like the DreamWell app, is a great way to encourage dreaming.
  • Learn about dreamwork through D-SETI's resources.
