What are UFO/UAPs and ET/NHIs?
We all sort of know what UFOs and UAPs are, even though they're unidentified. It's hard to keep up with the lingo and acronyms, but it's really important that we come to a workable understanding.
While it would seem easy or clear-cut to define ETs and UFOs, it's actually a very hard process. The challenge has to do with the tension between mythic and logical ways of knowing. We have a lot of testimony about ET/NHI contact and not a lot of physical evidence, just like with religious experience.
Dream studies provides a working model regarding how to handle definitions. The ethics of dreamwork involves the "assignment of authority" to the dreamer, which means that the dreamer is respected as the final authority regarding the significance of their experience. In the same way, the experiencer of ET/NHI contact should be the final authority regarding the significance of their experience, including the ontological significance.
UFOs and UAPs are the same thing
We're talking about lights in the sky, flying saucers, and other strange craft that move in unknowable ways
UFO means unidentified flying object and UAP means unidentified aerial phenomenon. The use of the word "phenomenon" seem more appropriate because it doesn't imply an ontological significance like the word "object".
With objects, we assume there's a thing out there in the world. With phenomenon, we assume there's some sense experience happening, but we're not yet sure what's going on out there in the world.
ETs are Extra-Terrestrials
Extra-Terrestrial seems like a clear idea, but it's more complex than imagined
We all have seen movies or TV programs about aliens and ETs. They're little green men or scary monsters that come from the sky.
There are many different hypotheses regarding UFO/UAPs and their occupants. We think that some of them come from other planets because that is what they told the experiencers of the contact. These entities also say they're angels, spirits, us from the future, interdimensional, and all sorts of other beings.
D-SETI uses the term "ET" out of convenience, imagining that anything out of our normal terrestrial sphere is "extra".
NHI is Non Human Intelligence
NHI is a more general terms, but then we need to ask, what is human?
NHI stands for Non Human Intelligence. This is a term used in place of "ET" because it does not imply a specific hypothesis regarding the UAP occupants. NHIs might include angels, spirits, elements, and other mythological creatures.
D-SETI uses the terms NHI and ET interchangeably. Please use either according to your own perspectives and definitions.
