Hypnosis is Dreamwork

Hypnosis is Dreamwork

Hypnosis is a problematic source of objective and historic testimony.  No one really knows how it works.  But it's one of the only ways that experiencers of ET/UFO contact have to work with their experiences.

Given that hypnosis is clearly not memory enhancement, something else must be going on.  People find healing, insight, and transformation in hypnosis simply by working with their own minds. Hypnosis is understood to be physiologically like a nap and psychologically like a daydream. Dreams are real and lead to healing, insight, and transformation.

Shamanic dreaming cultures understand that some dreams require interpretation by the shaman. These cultures respect the psychical reality of dreams.  They work with dreams as a way to mediate the human and non-human worlds.

It appears that hypnosis in the service of ET contact may be best understood as a shamanic dream practice rather than as memory enhancement.

Clearly not memory enhancement

The science is clear: hypnosis is sometimes, but not reliably, enhances memory but is vulnerable to false memories

Science doesn't support hypnosis as a tool for memory enhancement.  There's a long debate about the validity of hypnosis as testimony for ET/UFO contact.  It seems ridiculous to expect that hypnosis could enhance highly extraordinary memories like ET contact if it can enhance your ordinary memory.

However, it doesn't appear to matter.  Hypnotists continue their practice and people with extraordinary experiences work with them.  Books about past life and missing time regressions sell millions of copies.  Thousands of people share their hypnotically derived ET/UFO testimony.

Something else is going on than memory.  D-SETI hypothesizes that hypnosis is a shamanic dream experience that is best understood as mythic and not logical.

Physiologically like a nap, psychologically like a daydream

You're in control of the situation, its not a big deal, and it feels like you're making it up

Hypnosis involves intentional relaxation into "trance", which is a relaxed state of consciousness more open to unconscious associations than normal waking consciousness. The relaxation feels like a nap.  You can move around and make yourself comfortable.

Once you're relaxed, hypnosis offers suggestion for experiences.  Most of the time, there's a suggestion to experience something like a dream.  The hypnotist suggests archetypal imagery to invite your unconscious associations.

The process of hypnosis involves a conversation in which you receive suggestions and questions about your experience in trance.  People often describe it like a daydream or using your imagination.  Most people question the reality of their hypnotic experience.

Hypnotic testimony requires interpretation

Hypnosis is more like a dream than anything else, therefore any hypnotic testimony requires dreamlike interpretation

It is clear that hypnotic testimony is not objective or historic, rather it is mythic and subjective.  Some people want to know what happened during their missing time event.  You might never know from an objective perspective, however you can gain insight and empathy through working with the missing time event like a dream.

Some people use the hypnotic dreamwork session to inspire historical investigation of an event or to remember more.  It's totally fine and understandable to want a historic understanding, but its important to understand that hypnosis often detracts from the credibility of a case because it is misunderstood.

Focus on historical testimony may slow the process.  If hypnosis is shamanic dreamwork, then the ET/NHIs may have a psychical reality that needs to be mediated through nondual dream interpretation.  Dreamwork is mythic and requires your direct participation, which is in direct contract to generating objective testimony.

It seems you can either have proof that no one believes or you can have a fantastic experience that no one needs to believe. Its very important to remember that dreams can be real even though they are nonphysical.
